A great and very was to use basketball scoreboard.
Its really easy get the total score and per period score, just select the period in witch you want to add points, and hit the buttons below the global score to get both total and quarter updated, as easy as that.
In addition, you have a countdown clock to know the time till the end of period and also for possession.
